Leander ISD Leadership Development Opportunities

Leander ISD believes in a commitment to creating a pipeline and opportunities for growth for those already in our district. Regardless of where you are in your leadership journey, we have a program that can help you continue along that path through the options listed below.

Aspiring Leader Program

Have you been thinking about what’s next in your leadership journey? Then the LISD Aspiring Leader Program might be right for you!

Through a unique partnership between Concordia University Texas and Leander ISD, high potential LISD teachers and staff have the opportunity to earn their Master of Education degree with a specialization in Educational Administration. Unlike other programs, the LISD Aspiring Leader curriculum offers district-specific coursework, preparing students to advance in their careers with a distinctly LISD-oriented approach. Classes are held in the evenings and taught by Concordia professors and Leander ISD district and campus administrators.

Objectives:

  • To facilitate professional growth for participants that positively impact current and future leadership roles within the district
  • To build a core group of well-prepared future school leaders who can successfully transition into positions as assistant principals or other district leadership roles

Join us for a virtual information session to hear from LISD administration and Concordia faculty and admissions: Wednesday, May 8 from 6:30–7:30 p.m. – Zoom Registration

To start this journey, submit your application for admission through Concordia’s “Apply Now” page.

Aspiring School Counselor Program 2024-2025

In an effort to support Leander ISD staff who are interested in becoming a Leander ISD school counselor, the Counseling Service Department is offering an Aspiring School Counselor Program. Interested candidates should be Leander ISD staff who have completed, been accepted, or are currently enrolled in a school counseling masters program.

The cohort will meet six times each year, three times a semester, with the goal to support future counselors as they complete their coursework and field experiences as well as prepare them for the specific counseling needs in Leander ISD. Topics covered will include planning and implementing a comprehensive school counseling program, responding to the mental health needs of students, preparing for interviews and creating a plan to build relationships with all stakeholders as a new counselor. Participants are expected to attend all meetings which will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Meeting locations will be shared directly with participants.

Submit your application by Sept. 10, 2024. Additional Info
