Advanced Materials & Enabled Technologies
Research faculty members focus on devising breakthrough discoveries in biodegradability, biocompatibility, energy efficiency, self-repairing, polymers, advanced materials, nanotechnology, fabrication, laser printing, and nanoscale sensors. These enabled technologies have paved the way for novel, multifunctional integrated sensor systems with unlimited market potential.
Aero Propulsions, Mechatronics & Mechanics
Mechanical engineering faculty members are actively involved in fundamental research on concepts and designs using modern applications built on a foundation of physical science, mathematics, computing, and technology. Focus areas include designing and developing mechanical systems, structures, thermo-fluid systems, aero propulsion, mechatronics, mechanics, advanced transportation, and energy systems.
Urban Infrastructure: Smart Cities & Sustainability
We are committed to addressing the myriad issues associated with the expansion of urban cities. According to the United Nations, approximately 55 percent of the world’s population lives in urban areas or cities, a figure expected to rise to 68 percent over the coming decades. This growth will require the successful management of biodiversity and ecosystem services to ensure a resilient and sustainable future.
Wireless Communications
Our faculty members study various wireless technologies addressing all aspects of receiving and transmitting information over the wireless spectrum. Areas of research include the advanced design of circuits and subsystems from RF through Microwave to Millimeter-wave frequencies for 4G and 5G wireless communications and biomedical applications.
