Gateway CERH and Maitland Valley health to collaborate on research

GODERICH – Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health (CERH) has announced a collaborative partnership with the Maitland Valley Family Health Team aimed at advancing rural health through research, education, communication and innovation.

The two groups signed a memorandum of understanding on Friday, Feb. 6. A press release said the agreement reflects a shared commitment to working together on initiatives that support rural health care.

“Creating a partnership with the Maitland Valley Family Health Team is so important, as we share the common goal of keeping our rural residents healthy,” said Gateway CERH president Gwen Devereaux. “We look forward to collaborating to support our communities through grassroot initiatives aimed at guiding health-care organizations while developing a pipeline of rural health-care practitioners.” 

Maitland Valley executive director Matt Hoy described the new partnership as an exciting collaboration.

“We are particularly pleased to partner with this community organization to help identify gaps in local health needs and to develop programming that strengthens the overall health of our community. This partnership also provides valuable opportunities to recognize our dedicated health care professionals while supporting the development of the health-care workforce of tomorrow,” Hoy said.

Both organizations said they aim to strengthen rural health care, support evidence-informed practice and enhance connections across the rural health care system.
