ICFA launches women’s leadership development program

HIGH POINT – The International Casual Furnishings Assn. has established a new Women’s Leadership Network aimed at fostering professional and personal development for women in the casual furnishings sector. The program will include networking events, peer-to-peer learning, small group cohorts, mentorship opportunities and leadership roles.

Megan Pierson, executive vice president of Poly-Wood LLC and the second woman elected as ICFA chair, initiated the program with the goal of empowering more women to pursue growth opportunities within the industry.

“Creating a women’s leadership network would create a pipeline of women leaders to drive growth in the ICFA and casual furnishings industry along with offering new perspectives and a greater connection to the customer,” she said.

The network is led by two key organizing groups: the advisory board and the leadership committee. The advisory board, made up of seasoned industry leaders, will provide strategic guidance, while the leadership committee will focus on executing the program’s goals.

Notable members of the advisory board include Pierson, Terri Lee Rogers of OW Lee Co., Kristine Schultz-Hutchinson of Patios Plus, Suzie Roberts of Glen Raven, Judy Hamer of Gensun and Renee Loper-Boyd of Andmore.

The leadership committee features industry professionals such as Erika Canales of Tuuci; Sissy Blanchard of The Porch & Patio Store; Claire Walvick, an independent sales representative; Victoria Echols of Revolution Fabrics; and Paula Cox of Andmore.

The program kicked off with an empowerment networking event during the Casual Market Atlanta this summer, which Pierson described as a success.

“I counted more than 125 women in attendance, thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to bond with their peers,” she said. “I look forward to building that same high level of energy and enthusiasm in future events.”

The ICFA plans to release a calendar of online and in-person events for 2025, designed to help women in the industry reach their full potential as leaders and innovators. emphasized the program’s inclusivity.

“All women in the casual furnishing industry are welcome to participate,” said Siri Scott, ICFA director of programs and wngagement. “We are working toward a future where women can advance in their lives and careers and are excited to see the results.
