UTulsa’s College of Engineering & Computer Science welcomes new faculty


The University of Tulsa (UTulsa) is thrilled to welcome two esteemed scholars to its academic community: Chris Burris as Instructional Assistant Professor of Simulation and Gaming, and Yujing Du, Ph.D., as UTulsa’s first female Assistant Professor of Petroleum Engineering. Their expertise and dedication to innovation promise to enrich UTulsa’s vibrant academic environment and foster groundbreaking research and learning.

Their contributions will undeniably enhance our academic programs, inspire our students, and drive innovation in their respective fields.” Burris brings more than two decades of experience in design, animation, and computer graphics to UTulsa’s Tandy School of Computer Science. With a deep passion for artificial intelligence and machine learning, Burris focuses on developing innovative solutions that bridge the gap between technology and real-world applications. Committed to mentoring students Burris will enhance UTulsa’s reputation as a hub for technological advancement.

Du, an expert in petroleum engineering, joins the McDougall School of Petroleum Engineering with a strong background in reservoir engineering and computational modeling. She worked as a postdoctoral fellow in applied physics at Harvard University before joining The University of Tulsa. Du’s research emphasizes sustainable energy practices and optimizing resource management.
